Starting the New Year Right!

Every New Year I tend to get anxious about what lies ahead for that year. If you tend to get that way also, or perhaps are going through a difficult time, I would suggest taking to heart what Jesus told me several years ago. I had gone into the quiet, empty church to pray. We were going through some difficult financial times and as I knelt down, I began asking Jesus a million questions. I asked him ‘why?’ when I had surrendered myself to him and sought to do the Father’s will, whatever that may be? I prayed fervently with my eyes tightly closed, giving Jesus very little time to answer me.

Then suddenly I saw a black expanse, like the night sky from space. Then I saw a glowing line in the black expanse with a glowing dot on the line. The glowing line stretched as far as I could see in either direction. I asked Jesus what I was looking at. He told me that the glowing line was eternity which goes on forever without end. He said the glowing dot was my life which had a beginning, middle and end. He told me that I needed to stop worrying so much about the glowing dot, my life, and instead focus on the glowing line, eternity, for it was far more important than my short life. He said I just needed to trust him. He and his Father are in control and will take care of everything.

I have had to remind myself of this whenever something unpleasant or difficult has come up but when I remember Jesus’ words, the stress and anxiety leaves me and soon things begin to work out, sometimes in the strangest ways. When that happens I know for sure he is letting me know that he’s in control and working things out. I just have to trust him. Try it sometime. Picture in your mind the black expanse, and the glowing line and glowing dot on the line and then surrender whatever it is that is troubling you to Jesus and the Father and just see what happens. It may not work out the way we would want it to, or expect it to, but he is working on it and working it out for our good. Believe it and see how it changes your life. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, my brothers and sisters in Christ and hold the wonder and joy of our God becoming human out of love for us and to save us in your heart in the coming year!

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!
